Cookies
This website does not use cookies for analytics or tracking purposes. Our web analytics tool Matomo runs in cookieless mode – no cookies are placed on your device.
Local Browser Storage (localStorage / sessionStorage)
This website uses your browser's local storage exclusively for technically necessary functions:
- Language selection (
bb_lang_manual): Stores your chosen language permanently in local storage (localStorage) so your preference is remembered on future visits. No personal data is stored. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. - Neighbour discount notice (
bb_nachbarin): If you arrive via our neighbour page (/nachbarin/), a notice about the direct booking discount is displayed for the duration of your browser tab. This notice is stored exclusively in session storage (sessionStorage) and is automatically cleared when the tab is closed. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
No tracking, advertising or profiling data is stored in the browser storage.
Server log files
The hosting provider automatically collects server log files (browser type, operating system, referrer, IP address, time of access). These are not merged with other data sources. Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6 (1) (f).
5. Analytics – Matomo (cookieless)
This website uses Matomo, a self-hosted open-source analytics software. Matomo does not use cookies. Tracking is based on anonymised technical information (browser type, page views) without storing personal data or creating user profiles.
Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6 (1) (f) – legitimate interest. All data remains on our own server and is not shared with third parties.

6. Google Maps (Two-Click Solution)
This website optionally offers an interactive map via Google Maps. The map is only loaded after an active click by the user (two-click solution). Only upon this click is data – in particular the IP address – transmitted to Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
The use of Google Maps is based on GDPR Art. 6 (1) (a) – consent, which the user grants by actively clicking the load button. Further information on Google's data processing: policies.google.com/privacy.
7. External links (Airbnb)
Our website contains links to Airbnb. We are not responsible for their data protection practices. Airbnb privacy policy: airbnb.com/help/article/2855.
8. Online check-in (guest registration)
When you book one of our apartments (il Nido, il Loft) we ask you to complete the online check-in at borgo-bello.com/checkin before arrival. We collect the following data:
- Personal data of all guests: first and last name, sex, date and place of birth, citizenship, residence
- ID data of the lead guest: type, number, place of issue
- Stay information: booked apartment, arrival and departure dates, optional Airbnb booking reference
Purpose and legal basis: processing is carried out to comply with legal obligations (GDPR Art. 6 (1) (c)):
- Mandatory report to the Italian Police via Alloggiati Web within 24 hours of arrival (Ministerial Decree 07.01.2013)
- Statistical report to Region Tuscany via ROSS 1000 / Turismo 5 (EC Reg. 692/2011, Tuscany Regional Law 86/2016)
- Calculation and payment of the municipal tourist tax (Legislative Decree 23/2011)
Recipients: Italian State Police (Questura di Pistoia), Region Tuscany, Comune di San Marcello Piteglio.
Retention period: the data is kept for five (5) years after departure, as required by Italian law for guest registration, and then permanently deleted.
Security: the data is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS and stored on the same Strato server as this website (access via password authentication and time-limited sessions only). We do not send any personal data by email.
9. Direct enquiry form
On certain pages of this website it is possible to submit a direct booking enquiry. We collect the following personal data:
- Name and email address
- Requested dates: arrival, departure, preferred apartment, number of guests
- Optional message
- Source channel (e.g. location of the flyer from which you received our URL)
Purpose: processing and responding to your booking enquiry and sending a confirmation email.
Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6 (1) (b) (pre-contractual measures) and GDPR Art. 6 (1) (a) (your explicit consent given when submitting the form).
Data transfer: form data is processed exclusively on our own server (Strato AG, Germany) and forwarded by email to the apartment operators. No data is transmitted to third-party providers.
Retention period: data is stored as long as necessary to process your enquiry, up to a maximum of 2 years after last contact, and then permanently deleted.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing info@borgo-bello.com. The lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal is not affected.
